Music for Recycled Materials
Music for Recycled Materials is an ongoing project where we create unique instruments made from recycled materials and compose new music for them.
A collaboration between Andrew Scott and Hangrui Zhang. The project explores an unorthodox sound world, promotes sustainable practices, and raises environmental protection awareness.
As Andrew said, “In creating our instruments we are able to empower people both young and old to be able to access the benefits inherent in making music, exposing them to these otherwise inaccessible tools of musical creation (perhaps sparking an interest which may last a lifetime) while simultaneously highlighting the error in deeming much of what we discard to be ‘trash.’”
For this project, we formed Recycled Materials Trio, an ensemble using the unique wind instruments made by Andrew Scott.
